Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP) for up to two years of full-time equivalent study for Master of Philosophy programs. International students should refer to the information provided for international students.
A higher degree by research differs from other postgraduate degrees in that at least two-thirds of the study program must involve research. Although some coursework units may be required, the main part of your work will be in the form of a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor and associate supervisor(s).
Yes. Upon completion of a master by research degree, you may apply to be considered for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.
Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, IELTS Academic scores of at least 6.5 in each of Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening, with an overall band score of 6.5, are required. Other approved English proficiency tests and qualifications may also be accepted.
