Common Questions
Prospective students must first lodge an Expression of Interest notice via the provided form link. As part of this, you will need to upload a preliminary research proposal of at least 1500-2000 words, a one-page CV, and supplementary evidence of expertise such as music scores, links to past performances, or samples of academic writing. After that, you follow the applying for admission instructions on the course page.
Students must complete 12 compulsory credit points of coursework, comprising MCGY5111 Creative Work Seminar 1 and MCGY5112 Creative Work Seminar 2, plus 6 elective credit points from the University pool of units, which includes specialist analytical methods, professional development units, and discipline-specific subjects relevant for research students.
There is no separate tuition fee cost for the coursework units of study you will undertake — it is part of the tuition fee for the course.
Applications close on 31 October for Research Period 2 (commencing March–June) and 30 April for Research Period 3 (commencing July–September). You should apply at least 6 weeks prior to your start date to allow for a timely response. Separate scholarship application deadlines also apply.
Your preliminary research proposal should be at least 1500-2000 words and must outline your subject area, objectives, an introductory literature review, the method proposed, the significance of your research, and a schedule of your proposed research project.
