Common Questions
Applicants must have completed either the Bachelor of Health Science (Health and Lifestyle) at Southern Cross University, a Bachelor degree in a clinical health discipline or equivalent (such as Nursing, Osteopathy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic or Medicine), or study and professional experience determined by the Course Coordinator to be equivalent. English language proficiency is also required, with a minimum IELTS Academic score of 7.0 with no band less than 7.0 (or equivalent in PTE, TOEFL iBT, or SCU College English Language Exit Test).
The course includes 510 hours of Work Integrated Learning (WIL). Local placements are not guaranteed — while SCU considers your residential address when allocating placements, you should be prepared to travel and must have access to reliable transport for shifts that may occur during mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends. You are responsible for organising and covering travel, accommodation, and related costs. Before attending any placement, you must meet mandatory compliance requirements including immunisations, mask-fit testing, First Aid and CPR certification, and a National Police Certificate check.
Yes. Graduates of the Southern Cross University Bachelor of Health Science (Health and Lifestyle) receive eight units of advanced standing into the Master of Naturopathic Medicine as part of a 3+1 pathway to become a clinical naturopath. The total full-time duration for this clinical training program is four years (3-year Bachelor and 1-year Masters).
The Master of Naturopathic Medicine has been accredited by the Australian Register of Naturopaths and Herbalists (ARONAH) and approved by the Australian Natural Therapist Association (ANTA), Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association (ANPA), Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS), Complementary Medicine Association (CMA), and Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA).
International students studying on the Gold Coast campus pay AUD $26,000 per year (based on completing 8 units per year at $3,250 per unit). Tuition fees are in Australian dollars and are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of the course. In addition, students are required to pay Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their visa in advance.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
