The Master of Networking offers five majors: Cloud Networks (network automation, system management, and cloud technologies), Cybersecurity (cyber analytics, digital forensics, and ethical hacking), Smart Sensors and Automation (sensor networks, smart environments, and automated systems), Cryptocurrency (blockchain, crypto finance and legal frameworks behind digital currencies), and Project Management (planning, execution, and stakeholder management). You can also complete the course without a major if you prefer to build a broad set of networking and IT skills.
Yes, the Master of Networking is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the Professional Level, as well as meeting the TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework and Australian Quality Framework (AQF) Level 9 requirements.
Applicants must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent. For the cognate stream, the degree must be in Information Technology or a related discipline such as computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or networking. For the non-cognate stream, a bachelor degree in any other discipline is accepted. English language requirements include an IELTS Academic overall score of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5), or equivalent scores in TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or Cambridge CAE.
The Master of Networking is a 2-year (4 trimester) program comprising ten core units and two electives that may make up a specialisation. Core units cover topics such as Fundamentals of Operating Systems and Programming, Enterprise and Cloud Networks, Network Automation, Information Security, Wireless Networks and Security, and Software Managed Networks. Final year students complete MN690 Research Methods & Project Management and MN692 Capstone Project. Each unit consists of 20 credit points, and a full-time study load is 60 credit points per trimester.
Students use industry-standard tools including Kali Linux, VirtualBox, servers for security testing, Weka Tool for machine learning and data mining, QuickHash GUI, SSL Server Cryptography, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Juniper networking products, Cisco Packet Tracer, Spyder, Anaconda 3, Python programming language, MS Access and SQLite, Microsoft Project Management software, industry standard network simulation tools, and Ubuntu for software defined networking applications.
