Yes, the Master of Nursing (Pre-Registration) is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and is listed as an approved program of study on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Graduates may be eligible to apply for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) through the NMBA, subject to meeting the registration standards.
Students are required to complete 840 hours of clinical placements across various settings and health districts, completed over 21 weeks at 40 hours per week. Please note that travel to different clinical facilities will be required to complete placements.
All UOW courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. Additionally, the NMBA requires an overall IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in reading, speaking, and listening, and 6.5 in writing for registration purposes. Test results must be obtained within two years of applying for registration. Graduates will need to undertake another IELTS test to meet these requirements, even if the necessary scores were achieved prior to enrolling.
The course works on an extended academic year. First year commences with an intensive January session followed by Autumn and Spring sessions. The program is 2 years full-time. The next intake starts in January 2026, and the domestic application deadline for Autumn Session 2026 is 31 December 2025.
For 2026, the session fee is $16,310 and the total indicative course fee is $69,317 for on-campus study at Wollongong. Total course tuition fees are indicative and based on normal course length and progression, and are subject to change from year to year. Fee subsidised places are available.
