Master of Nursing

The Master of Nursing prepares registered nurses to step into advanced practice and senior leadership roles, building on your existing skillset to make a new contribution to the profession and to Australian healthcare.
The degree teaches concepts, methods and delivery to improve practice, research and knowledge. First year focuses on your chosen electives — either expanding knowledge in your area of expertise or building cross-disciplinary knowledge to fill gaps — alongside the foundations of research skills and inquiry that support autonomous leadership.
In second year you branch into one of two pathways: clinical or research. The clinical pathway develops advanced practice; the research pathway develops research capability, working with experienced researchers, mentors and industry partners.
Study can be part time to complement workplace duties or full time to fast-track your learning, and can be undertaken mostly online, though in-person participation is mandatory for certain core courses, workshops and clinical placements.
The program totals 96 units — 12 units of core courses, 12 to 24 units of discipline courses and 60 to 72 units of electives — over two years, on campus at Adelaide City or online, with February and July intakes.
