Common Questions
Yes. The Master of Occupational Hygiene is accredited by both the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH). BOHS accreditation provides eligibility for Associate Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene and, following a qualifying period of professional experience, access to pathways to Licentiate or Chartered Membership. AIOH accreditation means graduating students meet the educational requirements for Full membership (with 5 years professional experience), and students may join the AIOH as an Associate member free for the first year.
The course uses a flexible delivery mode combining online course content with three to five days of on campus block-teaching sessions focused on the exploration and application of the subject material. The on campus component utilises a range of campus resources, including UOW's well-resourced occupational health and safety laboratory.
The indicative full-fee paying course fee for 2026 is $38,819, with a session fee of $12,940. However, in 2026, domestic students may be eligible for either a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a UOW-subsidised fee reduction of up to 75% off the listed fees.
In the final stage of the degree, you will apply your knowledge and skills to a research-based capstone workplace project.
The face-to-face practical workshops in UOW's state-of-the-art laboratories are taught by practising Certified Occupational Hygienists (COHs), with a staff to student ratio of 1:8. UOW provides a student-centred, hands-on approach to learning and a renowned community of practice.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
