The program offers two pathways: the Clinically-focused Research Pathway, which prepares you for entry into higher research degrees and careers in research and academia, culminating in an individual research project that may be eligible for publication; and the Business-focused Research Pathway, which enables you to undertake business electives that will prepare you for management roles and work in the growing private sector, culminating in an industry research project where you apply both research and business skills.
The program includes 1,040 hours of fieldwork embedded in the program, with block placements in a variety of practice settings including disability services, rehabilitation, schools, community programs, mental health, hospitals and primary health care, as well as clinical practice experience embedded across the program.
Yes. The program is approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. It is also accredited for 7 years by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) in the United States of America, meaning graduates are eligible to sit for the NBCOT national certification examination and are qualified to practice in Australia, the USA and many other countries worldwide.
Classes are primarily delivered at the Bond Institute of Health and Sport, where you will have access to bespoke, world-class teaching spaces including the Work Play Lab, the Activities of Daily Living Lab (featuring an independent living unit with a domestic kitchen, bathroom and loungeroom), a paediatric lab, and the Bond University Health and Wellness Clinic (BUHAWC) where you will undertake practical internships under the direct supervision of a fully-qualified and accredited health professional and academic experts.
Yes. High-achieving students who complete the Clinically-focused Research Pathway may apply to progress to the Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy. Additionally, upon completion of all requirements of the two-year Master of Occupational Therapy program, students who opt to pursue the Bond Professional Doctorate of Occupational Therapy are eligible to apply for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia while enrolled in the Professional Doctorate program.
