The degree develops a critical understanding of the roots of human rights violations and the tools and mechanisms deployed to promote and protect people, with an interdisciplinary grounding in development, peace and conflict, and human rights.
The capstone experience comprises either a dissertation, a vocational placement, or an independent research project.
The closing date for Semester 1 is 31 January of the commencing year, and the closing date for Semester 2 is 15 July of the commencing year. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.

Students complete core units offering an interdisciplinary grounding in development, peace and conflict, and human rights, as well as stream selective units highlighting the role of peace with justice in transforming societies, plus a capstone experience.
