About This Course

The Master of Pharmacy combines the Intern Training Program with a supervised internship and advanced coursework in pharmacy practice, so what you study applies directly in your workplace.
You engage in real workplace environments to advance your pharmacy practice skills, complementing that practical experience with future-focused coursework.
The degree prepares you to work across the settings pharmacists practise in — community pharmacy, hospitals, research and specialised fields — ensuring safe and effective medication use while contributing to improved patient outcomes.
It follows the pathway to becoming a registered pharmacist, building on prior pharmacy study, and Adelaide University notes strong demand for pharmacists across the healthcare system.
The program totals 48 units — 24 units of core courses and 24 units of work integrated learning — over one year at the Adelaide City Campus, with a February intake.

General Requirements

Prerequisite: None
Assumed knowledge: None
To be eligible, an applicant must have achieved the following minimum entry requirements and demonstrate they fulfil any prerequisite and essential criteria for admission. In cases where there are more eligible applicants than available places, admission will be competitive with ranks based on the entry criteria. A completed Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) from a recognised higher education institution that has provisional or full Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) accreditation in Australia or New Zealand.
• Essential requirements — Prior to admission, applicants are required to: Obtain or apply for provisional registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Enrolment into the program will be finalised when provisional AHPRA registration is achieved. Students who fail to gain provisional registration or who have their registration rescinded during the program, will be unable to continue in the program; AND Arrange their supervised practice (internship) under the supervision of a preceptor approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
