No, you do not need to find a supervisor before applying. The Business School will find a supervisor for you during the application process. As part of your application you should select 'Business HoD' in the 'research supervisor' required field. If a suitable supervisor is identified, you will be contacted for an interview.
The type of research proposal required depends on which Discipline you are applying to. There are three types: a Statement of Research Interests (1-2 pages, required for Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, and International Business), an Indicative Research Proposal (maximum 1500 words, required for Accounting, Business Law, Finance, Marketing, Transport and Logistics Studies, and Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship), or a Developed Research Proposal (3000-6000 words, required for Work and Organisational Studies).
There is no separate tuition fee cost for the coursework units of study you will undertake; it is part of the tuition fee for the course. Additional non-tuition course costs vary depending on the units of study.
For Research Period 2 (start date 1 March), the application closing date is 31 October. For Research Period 3 (start date 1 July), the application closing date is 1 February. Note that separate deadlines apply for scholarships.
Master of Philosophy students in the Business School will undertake 18 credit points in a specialist program drawn from the Table R collection of units. The research coursework includes BUSS7901: Business Research Design, BUSS7902: Quantitative Business Research Methods, and BUSS7903: Qualitative Business Research Methods. Your faculty may elect to make certain units compulsory for a given degree pathway, and these requirements will be communicated around Induction.
