The course is by research and normally requires one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study, with the standard duration listed as 2 years full-time.
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. The IELTS Academic requirements are an overall band score of 6.5, with minimum scores of 6.0 in Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening. Other approved English language tests and qualifications may also be accepted.
Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), covering up to two years of full-time equivalent study for Master of Philosophy programs.
You will demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge in Computing and reflect critically on its application, think critically by investigating and synthesising complex information, undertake systematic investigation to generate new knowledge, present a coherent argument and disseminate research to national and international communities, present original research for examination against international standards, understand global and cultural issues related to Computing research, and design, implement, analyse, theorise, and communicate research that makes a significant contribution to knowledge and/or professional practice.
The course is offered at Curtin Perth campus on campus. Intake dates for 2026 include Research Term 1 and Research Term 2, both delivered on campus.
