About This Course

The Master of Philosophy – Education is an internationally recognised masters (by research) degree. The MPhil - Education is designed for students to develop advanced skills in carrying out independent and sustained research. The thesis should demonstrate a critical application of specialist knowledge and make an independent contribution to existing scholarship in the area of research.

Requirements

You must have completed a four-year Honours degree at H2A standard or above from an Australian university, or an equivalent qualification, or combination of qualifications, as approved by the University.
You should have achieved at least a H2A (75–79%) or H1 (80–100%) average in your Honours or Master's degree.
Your degree must be in a field relevant to your proposed MPhil, and demonstrate sufficient specialisation.
International qualifications are assessed for equivalency using Country Education Profiles (CEPs) by the Research Higher Degree Committee (RHDC). As a general rule, if your qualification allows you to enter a research degree in your home country, it is likely to be considered equivalent at the University of Melbourne.
You must have completed a research project, component, subject or group of subjects equivalent to at least 25% of a full-time academic year, assessed individually. Research carried out in groups graded individually may be acceptable.
Meeting entry requirements does not guarantee selection; the Selection Committee will consider prior academic performance.
You must meet the University's English language proficiency requirements for graduate students.
