Common Questions
The program includes coursework and a substantial research component culminating in the submission of a thesis. The coursework consists of four compulsory research training courses — Quantitative Research Methods, Qualitative Research Methods, Scholarly Reading and Writing, and Developing a Research Proposal — which are prerequisites for the research project. An average grade standard of Credit must be achieved in the coursework before proceeding to the research component.
The standard time for completion is usually 18 months for a full-time student and three years for a part-time student. The program can be undertaken in either a full-time or part-time capacity.
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree (AQF level 7 qualification), or in exceptional circumstances, an equivalent academic or professional background considered by the National Head of School to be appropriate preparation for independent study and research at master's level. Applicants may also be required to demonstrate adequate English communication skills in both written and spoken form.
Most domestic research students are eligible to have all Higher Degree by Research course fees paid by the Commonwealth Government through a Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship. Domestic students may also apply for competitive stipend scholarships. International students may be eligible for Commonwealth Government RTP Scholarships (Fees Offset and/or Stipend) or the University International Fee Remission Research Scholarship (IFRRS), which are awarded to students of exceptional research potential.
The Master of Philosophy (Education) is available at two campuses: Fremantle (23 High St, Fremantle, WA 6160) and Sydney (128-140 Broadway, Chippendale, NSW 2008). It can also be studied externally, and commences in both Semester 1 and Semester 2.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
