Master of Philosophy (Physics)

Yes. Upon completion of a master by research degree, you may apply to be considered for entry into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program.

A higher degree by research differs from other postgraduate degrees in that at least two-thirds of the study program must involve research. Although some coursework units may be required, the main part of your work will be in the form of a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor and associate supervisor(s).

Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP): up to two years for Master of Philosophy programs.

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. The IELTS Academic requirements are: Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 6.0, Listening 6.0, and an overall band score of 6.5. English proficiency may also be demonstrated using other accepted tests and qualifications.

Generally, applicants require a bachelor degree with first or second class honours or a postgraduate diploma to be considered for entry into this course.
