This 2-year, full-time course will help you leverage your existing qualifications and combine them with a comprehensive, integrated learning schedule to ensure that you meet both the Australian Physiotherapy Association requirements and your career objectives efficiently. This course is unique to UC and has been specifically designed to help you graduate faster and enter the physiotherapy industry with a highly competitive edge. With UC's Master of Physiotherapy, you will: Develop knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. Learn to read, critique, evaluate and apply evidence from research and science into the practices of health care and health services. Enhance your communication skills in listening, speaking, explaining and teaching. Develop detailed knowledge of normal function and development of the musculoskeletal, cardiothoracic and neurological systems. Apply your knowledge and skill to assess, prevent and treat developmental and degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal, cardiothoracic and neurological systems. Understand and apply the professional ethics, responsibilities, values and standards for the practice of physiotherapy. Develop excellent clinical, analytical and reasoning skills. Work Integrated Learning (WIL) This course offers a high volume of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and the opportunity to gain clinical practice experience using the theoretical and practical components of your studies. Comprising four five-week placements, these hands-on learning opportunities will cover a wide range of areas, including acute care units, rehabilitation centres, neurological units, residential care facilities, pediatric units and aged care facilities. Placements are only provided on a full-time basis and will require interstate travel. Accommodation and transport costs are the student’s responsibility. Learn more about Work Integrated Learning . Students have the opportunity to work with high-performance athletes looking to improve their physical and personal objectives as well as patients with a variety of medical issues, such as spinal cord injuries and Parkinson’s disease, who require regular visits.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria: A) a completed bachelor degree in a health science discipline* with a credit or higher average, and B) degree level studies in musculoskeletal anatomy, advanced functional anatomy, physiology of exercise and biomechanics. It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide evidence that they meet the prerequisite degree level study requirements outlined above. You must upload a copy of the unit outlines/course syllabi of the relevant units only from your previous studies that show you meet these requirements with your application. Applicants who do not meet the prerequisite requirements are encouraged to apply for entry into the Graduate Certificate of Human Movement 868AA https://www.canberra.edu.au/course/868AA/4

Health science disciplines include exercise physiology, exercise science, exercise and sports science, medical science, biomedical science, health science, human movement, physiotherapy, physical therapy, applied science, human biology, medicine, rehabilitation science, human nutrition, occupational therapy. Domestic applicants Applications from domestic applicants will be accepted on a yearly basis from 1 August of the preceding year and close on 30 June of the commencing year. Applicants who are eligible for an offer will be placed on a waitlist and offers will be released in rounds on the first business day of each month commencing in November of the preceding year. Any applicant who is not successful in the round, will remain on a waitlist for further rounds while vacancies exist. Domestic applicants who wish to be considered for a package with the Graduate Certificate in Human Movement Science (868AA) need to apply by 1 November. Limited Commonwealth-supported places (CSPs) are available for this course and will be awarded on academic merit. To be considered for a CSP, please submit your application by 31 March 2026. Eligible applicants will be notified from 15 April 2026. The University will continue to issue fee-paying (FEE) offers until this date, offers for any eligible CSP applicants will be updated accordingly. International applicants Applications from international applicants will be accepted on a yearly basis from 1 August of the preceding year and close on 31 March of the commencing year. Applicants who are eligible for an offer will be placed on a waitlist and offers will be released in rounds on the first business day of each month commencing in September of the preceding year. Any applicant who is not successful in the round, will remain on a waitlist for further rounds while vacancies exist. International applicants who wish to be considered for a package with the Graduate Certificate in Human Movement Science (868AA) need to apply by 1 October. Offers Offers will clearly indicate a deadline by which applicants must accept. If the offer is not accepted by this date, it will be rescinded. Offers for this course cannot be deferred. This course has limited places available. Not all applicants who meet the application deadline and requirements may be successful. For professional Physiotherapy registration with APHRA, IELTS is required for anyone who did not complete high school in Australia, England, Ireland, New Zealand, USA, Canada or South Africa, as opposed to the University requirements where IELTS is only required for those who have not studied in an English speaking country.
