About This Course

Are you considering a career in Accounting? Do you hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent? The Master of Professional Accounting is an accredited graduate conversion program. It provides opportunities for applicants holding a degree (recognised as equivalent to an Australian three year undergraduate degree) in any discipline, other than an accredited accounting major, to complete the pre-entry educational requirements for CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). The program delivers a contemporary education in accounting principles and procedures supported by knowledge of associated disciplines of law, economics and finance. During this program you will learn how to apply accounting concepts, theories and models through a range of individual and collaborative means, including industry relevant projects and realistic business problems. Accounting jobs today require expertise and the ability to communicate effectively. By studying the Master of Professional Accounting program, you will be provided the opportunity to think critically and communicate effectively whilst engaging with the community through industry partnerships. Offered as a Masters Degree qualification of 120 credit points, it is normally completed in 1.5 years full-time and 3 years part-time.

General Requirements

English Language Proficiency: International applicants must achieve IELTS 6.5 overall score with a minimum 6.0 in each subset or equivalent English language proficiency.
Tertiary Education: Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in business Or Successfully completed a Graduate Certificate in any discipline.

What professional accounting bodies can I become a member of after completing this degree?

After completing the Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced), you can become a member of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and the Certified Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

What are the entry requirements for this program?

Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline, or successfully completed a Graduate Certificate. Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English, and overseas qualifications must be deemed by AEI-NOOSR to be equivalent to Australian qualifications.

How long does it take to complete the Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced)?

The program takes 2 years to complete on a full-time basis, and is also available part time.
