Yes, the Master of Professional Accounting is accredited by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and CPA Australia. The program is also accredited by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Australia (CMA Australia) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK). Graduates can gain admission as an associate member of CPA Australia or CAANZ.
Applicants must have a bachelor degree or equivalent as approved by the University. There are no work experience requirements. However, students who have undertaken an undergraduate degree with a major in accounting with an Australian institution are ineligible for entry to the degree. The course is designed for those with an undergraduate degree in another field who wish to switch careers into accounting, as well as internationally educated accountants looking to meet Australian professional requirements.
International students must demonstrate an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 overall, with no band score below 6.0 (or equivalent).
Yes, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is a vital component of the UC Master of Professional Accounting journey. It allows students to gain extensive practical experience working on real-world research projects, case studies, and industry briefs, all while working alongside highly skilled and experienced industry mentors. Students will develop work-ready technical accountancy skills and build their professional networks, ensuring graduates enter the workforce with a robust industry-based professional set of connections already established.
The Master of Professional Accounting is a full-time 2-year course. It is open for admissions in Semester 1 (starting 16 February 2026) and Semester 2 (starting 10 August 2026) for 2026, and in Semester 1 (starting 15 February 2027) and Semester 2 (starting 09 August 2027) for 2027, at the Bruce, Canberra campus.
