About This Course

The Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced) builds the technical expertise needed to solve accounting and business challenges, alongside future-focused leadership skills, giving students the chance to network with real industry experts at Torrens University. The course integrates theoretical and technical knowledge across financial and management accounting, auditing, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, business law and taxation, with hands-on experience using industry-leading software. Learning outcomes include interpreting and applying rules, regulations and theories to a range of complex professional situations, communicating accounting advice and knowledge to stakeholders across an organisation, solving diverse accounting problems in varied contexts, and staying at the forefront of accounting research, law and software for best practice. The course is accredited by both CPA Australia and CA ANZ, meeting the academic entry requirements for the CPA and CA programs respectively. Torrens University is also a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

This AQF Level 9 course is delivered online, on campus and in blended mode across Sydney, Melbourne and online, over two years full-time with part-time options available, with intakes in September 2026 and February 2027.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students:

Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) or above from an Australian University or an equivalent overseas higher education qualification OR
Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration OR
Five years of professional accounting experience or equivalent professional business experience, for applicants without formal qualifications; applications assessed on a case-by-case basis, demonstrated through relevant work experience (documented e.g. CV), formal/informal/non-formal study (completed or partially completed), or written submission demonstrating reasonable prospect of success

International students:

Australian bachelor's degree or equivalent
Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent OR
Alternative entry requirements may be available, which may include assessment and approval of prior study, or successful completion of a readiness assessment
