About This Course

The Master of Professional Accounting is 1.5 years full-time or (equivalent part-time for domestic students only) qualification designed to offer a broad conceptual framework and theoretical Accounting knowledge and develop practical technical accounting skills, analytical skills, business acumen, critical thinking and communication skills. A graduate of the Master of Professional Accounting will be well placed to work as a professional accountant in a range of workplace contexts and environments. The CIHE Australia Master of Professional Accounting has been carefully aligned with the accreditation requirements of the CPAA and CA ANZ so that the degree will provide CPAA and CA ANZ accreditation for students upon successful completion of the course.

Requirements

Domestic Applicants:

Domestic applicants with a non-cognate AQF7 credential: Successful completion of a non-accounting undergraduate degree (AQF Level 7) in any discipline from an Australian university or AQF equivalent from an overseas institution that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges.
Domestic applicants with a cognate AQF7 credential: Successful completion of an Australian recognised Bachelor of Accounting (BOA) or equivalent qualification that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges.
Successful completion of an Australian recognised Graduate Certificate of Accounting or Graduate Diploma of Accounting or their equivalent qualification that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges.
Without a cognate AQF7 credential: Equivalent professional evidence of a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience which will allow domestic applicants to apply for RPL based on their industry experience.

International Applicants:

International students must meet the conditions above.
International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language.
IELTS: a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.
TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT): a minimum overall score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 21.
Pearson PTE Academic: a minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50, or recognised equivalency.
Where international students have achieved an AQF qualification or equivalent overseas qualification and where the language of instruction has been English, students are deemed to have met the English language fluency requirement.

Is the Master of Professional Accounting accredited by CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ?

Yes. The CIHE Australia Master of Professional Accounting has been carefully aligned with the accreditation requirements of the CPAA/CA ANZ/IPA so that the degree will provide CPAA/CA ANZ/IPA accreditation for students upon successful completion of the course.

Can I study the Master of Professional Accounting part-time?

Part-time study is available for domestic students only. International students are required to study full-time. The full-time duration of the course is 1.5 years.

What are the English language requirements for international applicants?

International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through: IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0; TOEFL iBT with a minimum overall score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 21; or Pearson PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50. Where international students have achieved an AQF qualification or equivalent overseas qualification delivered in English, they are deemed to have met the English language fluency requirement.

How is the course delivered and how are students assessed?

At CIHE Australia, workshop-based engaged learning is provided. All units involve participation in 3 hours of on-campus workshop per week for 12 weeks. Each week's workshop requires preparation including reading, activities and online work. All units are supported by Moodle, an online learning management system. Assessment tasks include quizzes, group work, case-studies and scenario-based activities, reports and exams, designed to be work-oriented and mimic real world business processes.

Can I receive credit for prior learning or work experience?

Yes. CIHE Australia grants credit towards a course of study on the basis of prior learning, whether from formal studies or professional work experience, to ensure that students commence study at a level appropriate to their learning experiences. Domestic applicants without a cognate AQF7 credential may also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) based on a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience.
