Master of Professional Psychology

Domestic students:

• Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited AQF Level 7 (Years 1-3) and Level 8 (Honours or 4th year equivalent) qualification(s) in psychology, or equivalent, including international qualification(s) deemed equivalent by the Australian Psychological Society:
• Minimum WAM of 65 for Years 1-3 of APAC accredited AQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent in psychology, including international qualification(s) deemed equivalent by the Australian Psychological Society
• Minimum WAM of 75 in Year 4 (Honours or 4th year equivalent) of APAC accredited AQF Level 8 psychology qualification or equivalent, including international qualification(s) deemed equivalent by the Australian Psychological Society
• In addition:
• Eligibility for provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Relevant work experience
• Two satisfactory referee reports
• Satisfactory personal statement(s)
• Satisfactory Multiple Mini Interview performance
• Please note that applicants who have achieved WAMs less than the stated requirements will be excluded from the applicant pool. Additionally, shortlisting for the Multiple Mini Interview selection event is based on academic performance in only the Years 1-3 of APAC accredited AQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent in psychology, including international qualification(s) deemed equivalent by the Australian Psychological Society and all other information provided during the application process. This includes information provided to the Universities Admission Centre (UAC), referee reports, and completion of the Macquarie University Supplementary Form. Invitations for the interviews and offers for admission to the course are highly competitive. Meeting the minimum stated requirements does not guarantee an invitation to attend the interviews or admission to the course.

International students:

• IELTS (Academic) overall band 7 with minimum sub-scores: listening 7, reading 7, writing 7, speaking 7, or an approved equivalent
• CRICOS-registered course - a valid student visa is required to study on campus

• Graduates of the Master of Professional Psychology course are competitive in obtaining paid employment as provisionally registered psychologists for the purpose of completing the 6th-year of supervised placement.
• Prior to working as a Psychologist, students will need to complete the Psychology Board of Australia's National Psychology Exam and apply for Registration.
• The Psychology Board of Australia applies standards to English language skills and an assessment of criminal history.
• Having obtained registration, graduates of the Program find work in a broad range of professional practice settings that draws on their skills in assessment and intervention, including: government departments, non-government organisations, hospital/clinic settings and alcohol and rehabilitation; human resource management; workplace and career counselling; and private practice.
