Master of Professional Psychology

• Additional Selection Criteria (ie, to cover interviews, auditions, portfolios): Submission of two referees reports Participation in an interview, by invitation, with the School of Psychology. For domestic students, selection interviews are held between October and December each year; for international students these are held once the application has been received. No deferrals will be accepted for this program.

• Other Qualifications: Additional information for international applicants: Places will be offered to qualified applicants based on academic merit and interview performance according to the following admission criteria. International qualifications must be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and deemed equivalent to an Australian 4 year sequence in psychology (including an honours equivalent research thesis component); International qualifications will be assessed by the International office at Western Sydney University Additional information for international applicants Assessment of international qualifications by the APS can be applied for at the following: https://www.psychology.org.au/membership/qualifications/ International students applying to the University through the International Office need to have their applications submitted no later than 31 October of each year. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Positions for the Master of Professional Psychology program will be offered based on outcomes from academic criteria, English proficiency and the interview process, including consideration of referee reports and professional experience and capacity as for other applicants.
• Other Qualifications: Additional Requirements for Domestic Applicants with International Qualifications: International qualifications must be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and deemed equivalent to an Australian 4 year sequence in psychology (including an honours equivalent research thesis component);
• English Language Proficiency: Applicants who have undertaken studies in other countries and international applicants may have to provide proof of proficiency in English. Details of minimum English proficiency requirements and acceptable proof can be found on the international office website and include the additional admission requirements of: IELTS (Academic) - 7.0 overall score with a minimum 7.0 in each subtest TOEFL Internet based test - 100 (writing = 27 and all other subtests = 22)
• Tertiary Education: Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four-year undergraduate Psychology degree within the last 10 years, with an indicative academic achievement, based on entry in previous years, of a grade point average of 5.0 or higher (counting Year 2 to 3 as 50% and Year 4 as 50%).

The Master of Professional Psychology provides you with one year of the two-year registration process for psychologists. Once you have completed your second year and become fully registered, you’ll be ready to make a real difference to people’s lives in:
