Yes. The Master of Professional Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as meeting the requirements of a 5th year program of study, allowing progression towards registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Students accepted into the course must have successfully completed a four-year, or a three-year plus a fourth year, APAC-accredited sequence in psychology within the previous 10 years, be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) as a provisional psychologist, and have achieved an average mark of 70% across all psychology subjects for the four years of previous study. Entry is competitive and based on academic merit and personal suitability.
Yes. This course requires a total of 300 hours of compulsory work-based placements, completed over 30 weeks (at 10 hours per week) throughout the degree. Placements are conducted at the University's Northfields Psychology Clinic and at external placements.
The indicative full-fee paying tuition for 2026 is $16,408 per session and $32,816 for the full course. However, in 2026, domestic students may be eligible for either a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a UOW-subsidised fee reduction of up to 75% off the listed fees.
For the Autumn Session 2026, the application deadline is 12 September 2025 for both international and domestic (direct) applicants. Applicants are advised to refer to the School of Psychology for specific application procedures, and the session starts on 2 March 2026.
