Project innovation is the next big thing for the project management discipline. As we move to a management-by-project gig economy, projects and programs have become increasingly complex. Project managers are working in multi-layered business environments, with interdisciplinary, often isolated team members. In a world where everything can – and does – alter overnight, disruption and change management have become the norm. Project Innovation takes the management process to the next level, embracing innovative thinking and adaptable practices that can respond quickly to change and opportunities. It offers a whole new way of thinking – one that is not constrained by conventional ideologies and the fear of failure. It looks at alternative solutions, the freedom to experiment and design thinking. It recognises that success is measured, not just in the delivery of projects but in good design and end-user delight. Successful completion of a recognised Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) in any field
English language proficiency: IELTS Academic overall score 6.5 with no sub-score less than 6.0
English language proficiency: PTE Academic overall score 58 with no Communicative Scores below 50
English language proficiency: TOEFL iBT overall score 79 (no scores below 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking, and 16 in Reading and Listening)
Alternative entry: Prior work experience may be used to apply for entry; documentation of employment history including a statement from your employer about your position, time in role, and a brief overview of the role performed is required
Credit for prior learning may be available if you have completed previous tertiary studies; academic transcripts and detailed subject outlines are required

The Master of Project Innovation explores key areas emerging in job descriptions for project managers, drawn from product managers, designer thinkers, change agents, Agile coaches, business analysts and entrepreneurs. The program prepares students to excel in digital transformation and other complex projects in diverse roles like product manager, project manager, and museum specialist. Digital badging is available for the six core subjects centred around emerging career specialisations for project managers – namely Product Manager, Design Thinker, Change Agent, Agile Coach, Business Analyst and Entrepreneur.

Is the Master of Project Innovation still accepting new students?

No. This program has been suspended from September 2024. There are no further intakes of students planned. The program information is being retained only for students currently enrolled.

What is the structure of the Master of Project Innovation?

The program comprises six foundational (core) subjects – three delivered by Bond Business School's business thinkers and three delivered by the Faculty of Society and Design's project management innovators. Students also choose three postgraduate electives from across the University and complete a significant research project in their final semester.

Is there an international study tour included in the program?

Yes. The program includes a 10-day international study tour where students visit and make connections with cutting-edge project operators in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Japan. This is subject to visa approval and COVID restrictions.

Students can earn digital badges for up to six career specialisations relevant to project managers, centred around the emerging roles of Product Manager, Design Thinker, Change Agent, Agile Coach, Business Analyst, and Entrepreneur.
