Common Questions
Yes. Credit, also known as 'advanced standing', is used to recognise your prior learning or work and life experience, reducing the number of units you need to complete. When applying directly to VU, you can submit a credit application during the course application process, or apply for credit after being accepted, during enrolment.
Yes. Domestic students enrolled in postgraduate certificates, diplomas and masters by coursework can defer for up to 12 months for work, travel or personal reasons, as long as they do so before enrolling. You can apply for a deferral when accepting your offer to study via the MyVU system.
At Victoria University, the award-winning VU Block Model® means you study one subject at a time over four-week 'blocks' in learner-centred classes. This model also provides five opportunities across the year to start your course, rather than the traditional two semester intakes.
You will need to supply a Unique Student Identifier (USI), and where relevant: copies of your academic transcripts and testamur with unit descriptions (overseas transcripts must be certified and/or translated), a CV and employer letter if using work experience, and a statement of interest (up to 500 words) outlining your reasons for applying and how your experience will help you succeed.
International students can apply directly to VU or through an approved education agent. You will need to meet academic and English language requirements, gather supporting documents including certified transcripts and proof of English proficiency, and submit your application through the VU international application portal. Once accepted, you will receive a Letter of Offer, and after accepting and paying the initial deposit, a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) will be issued so you can apply for a student visa.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
