Master of Psychology (Clinical)

The Master of Psychology (Clinical) prepares you to practise as a registered psychologist, blending scientific research with compassionate care.
Developed with input from practitioners, academics and students, the degree gives a deep understanding of both established best practice and recent advances in the field, and has you engage with research and how it shapes clinical practice.
You learn to conduct comprehensive assessments that build an understanding of the psychological, environmental, social and cultural factors contributing to how a client presents, and to design and implement personalised treatment plans using evidence-based therapies tailored to each client's needs. Specialist skills are developed in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of major mental illnesses and psychological conditions, applied across the lifespan and with people from diverse backgrounds.
Hands-on experience comes in the university's affiliated psychology clinics, providing psychological services to real clients under supervision, alongside supervised clinical placements.
Graduates are eligible for registration as a psychologist and can begin a registrar program working toward endorsement in clinical psychology.
The program totals 96 units — 72 units of core courses and 24 units of work integrated learning — over two years across the Adelaide City and Magill campuses, with a January intake.
