To be eligible, students must be enrolled in the first year of the Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology). Currently enrolled students can apply to transfer to the combined Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology)/PhD program for the following year, with applications to transfer opened towards the end of their first year.
Graduates of this program become eligible for generalist registration as a psychologist in Australia and entry into the PsyBA-approved registrar program in the area of clinical neuropsychology.
The doctoral component involves undertaking original research through a doctoral thesis, contributing new knowledge to clinical neuropsychology. Students have the opportunity to conduct research and contribute to the body of knowledge in clinical neuropsychology, supported by expert faculty actively engaged in clinical practice, supervision, and research in clinical neuropsychology.
The program includes hands-on clinical experience through extensive placements in various settings, working with clients across the lifespan. Students acquire competence in various approaches to the study of brain disease, including basic and applied clinical sciences, and develop an understanding of culturally responsive, objective assessment of the many behavioural features of brain diseases.
The course provides comprehensive training for those interested in pursuing careers in various settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centres, private practice, research organisations, and academic institutions.
