Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental)

Domestic students

• To be eligible for admission, an applicant must have completed one of the following prerequisites:
• i. a Bachelor degree with honours in an accredited psychology course with a minimum of IIA Honours completed in the last 10 years; OR
• ii. a Bachelor degree with an accredited four year major study in psychology completed in the last 10 years; OR
• iii. a Bachelor degree with an accredited three year major study in psychology and satisfactory completion of an additional year of accredited study in psychology, or equivalent, with an overall mark equivalent to IIA Honours completed in the last 10 years; OR
• iv. qualifications assessed as equivalent by the selection committee.
• Applicants must also demonstrate suitability to undertake the course through a satisfactory academic referee report and a satisfactory professional referee report, and, for short-listed candidates, an interview with the selection committee. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a conditional/provisional psychologist, and must comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
• Applicants require an academic IELTS minimum overall score of 7.0 (with a minimum score of 7.0 in all bands), or an equivalent acceptable test score as outlined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
• Applicants who have completed at least two units of AQF-recognised study at bachelor level or above are assigned a new selection rank reflecting their study level, duration and grade point average, and may be eligible for credit or recognition of prior learning.
• Students are required to obtain provisional registration as a psychologist before commencing the course, and to have completed a Working With Children check and appropriate police checks before completing practicum units.

International students

• To be eligible for admission, an applicant must have completed:
• 1a. a Bachelor degree with honours in an accredited psychology course with a minimum of IIA honours completed in the last 10 years; OR
• 1b. a Bachelor degree with an accredited four year major study in psychology completed in the last 10 years; OR
• 2a. a Bachelor degree with an accredited three year major study in psychology and satisfactory completion of an additional year of accredited study in psychology, or equivalent, with an overall mark equivalent to IIA Honours completed in the last 10 years.
• Applicants must also demonstrate suitability to undertake the course through a satisfactory academic referee report and professional referee report and, for short-listed candidates, an interview with the selection committee, and must be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a conditional/provisional psychologist.
• If the Bachelor degree was completed outside Australia, applicants must obtain an Assessment of Overseas Qualifications from the Australian Psychological Society confirming that it is equivalent to an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited three-year sequence in psychology, and submit evidence of this with the application.
• Applicants must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy and require an academic IELTS minimum overall score of 7.0 (with a minimum score of 7.0 in all bands), or an equivalent acceptable test score.
• Entry is on a competitive basis. All applicants are ranked in October the year prior to admission before being considered for an offer in early December.
