The Master of Public Health is available via three pathways: (1) coursework only, where students take units to the value of 36 points from Group B; (2) coursework and a 24-point dissertation, where students take units to the value of 24 points from Group A and 12 points from Group B; or (3) coursework and a 24-point practicum. Note that students cannot take both the dissertation and the practicum.
The practicum offers students the opportunity to work with prospective employers, apply theoretical knowledge to the real world, and gain valuable workplace experience. Students develop observational skills; relevant practical skills including project management, information and time management skills; lateral thinking and problem solving skills; literacy and communication skills; as well as skills in professional behaviour and responsibility, and ethical conduct.
