Yes. The time and cost can be reduced based on your previous qualifications and professional experience. This means you can fast-track the master's degree from 2 years down to 1.5 years. The number of credit points required to complete the course (8, 12, or 16) may vary depending on your entry point or how much credit you receive as recognition of prior learning (RPL).
You can tailor your degree by choosing electives from eight fields of study: public health practice, health promotion, epidemiology, health economics and management, applied research, public health nutrition, humanitarian assistance, and disability and inclusion. You may also create your own bespoke pathway by choosing electives from within or across these fields of study.
The Master of Public Health can be completed on campus at Burwood (Melbourne) or fully online, a popular choice for students who are working in the health or other industries while studying. The course is available across three intakes: Trimester 1 (March), Trimester 2 (July), and Trimester 3 (November), at both the Burwood campus and online.
Yes. Students can undertake a Minor Project Option (HSH731 and HSH732, 1 credit point each) if they have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60, or a Major Project Option (HSH733 and HSH734, 2 credit points each) if they have a minimum WAM of 70. Students wishing to complete a minor or major project are recommended to complete the core unit HSH753 Research Methods in Health and Social Development.
