Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health builds on existing knowledge to prepare graduates to lead innovation and solve complex public health issues on a national and international scale. Students learn strategies and techniques to prevent disease and promote health, alongside health policy and ethical practice, and the course is also available as a double degree with a Master of Business Administration or a Master of Global Project Management. The course gives health professionals from a broad range of backgrounds the advanced knowledge and skills to address public health challenges locally and globally, building understanding of current global and environmental health issues, ethical practice, health policy, systems and economics, and the social, behavioural and cultural determinants of health and welfare. Learning outcomes include designing and applying intervention strategies to detect, prevent and control disease, identifying environmental risk factors affecting the health and safety of a community, demonstrating commitment to the ethical practice of public health and the principles of access and equity, and evaluating the effectiveness of health policy and management in promoting and optimising health and welfare.

Torrens University is a member of the Council of Academic Public Health Australasia (CAPHIA), and graduates may apply for membership with the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA). This AQF Level 9 course is delivered online and on campus across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and online, over 1.5 years full-time with part-time options available, or one year accelerated.
