The Master of Public Health — Master of Global Development is the first joint Master's program in Australia to respond to the development needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the first of its kind to combine expertise in both public health and global development. It is highly attuned to the development challenges of the next decade and is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with JCU ranked in the top 100 universities in the world for SDGs.
Applicants must have completed an AQF level 7 bachelor degree in a relevant health discipline, or equivalent. As part of the application, students must also upload their current AHPRA Registration (if applicable), Degree Testamur, Curriculum Vitae, and a Personal Statement or Letter of Motivation.
The estimated annual Commonwealth Supported fee is $10,980 AUD for a full-time study load, while the estimated annual tuition fee is $31,920 AUD for a full-time study load (plus Student Services and Amenities fee). Fee deferral via HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP is available if eligible, and a variety of scholarships are available to suit different student types.
The course is available online, as well as on-campus at JCU's Townsville and Cairns campuses. Students can choose online or mixed-mode delivery; however, some online options may require some on-campus attendance. Intake dates for all modes are January and September.
Throughout the degree, students can participate in work integrated learning, workplace-based projects, field exercises, and service-learning. Students will undertake a professional placement that draws on JCU's strong connections across the Asia Pacific region and the Tropics, and the connections made during placement could lead to employment opportunities post-graduation with organisations such as DFAT, CARE Australia, the Fred Hollows Foundation, WHO, and various UN bodies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
