Common Questions
The program can be completed in two years of full-time study or four years part-time, and is made up of 96 total units of credit across 16 courses, including seven core courses, five elective courses, and additional electives which include a research project or research methodology course.
There are three pathways for entry. Pathway 1 requires a three-year undergraduate degree in any field plus two years of relevant professional or volunteer experience. Pathway 2 requires an undergraduate degree with honours in a relevant field, or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field. Pathway 3 is an exceptional pathway for applicants with at least five years of full-time relevant experience who do not hold a relevant degree. An Indigenous Alternative Entry Scheme is also available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Students can tailor their degree through a broad program of study or a focused public health specialisation. UNSW offers four specialisations: Aboriginal Health & Wellbeing, Epidemiology, Health Economic Evaluation, and Public Security.
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are available for this program, with a 2026 indicative CSP first year fee of $9,500 and $19,000 to complete the degree. For domestic full-fee paying students, the 2026 indicative first year fee is $39,000 and $76,000 to complete. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year fee is $60,500 and $126,000 to complete the degree.
The program is designed to be relevant to the workplace, with many opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to practice. One such opportunity is the internship program, where students gain practical experience in relevant health organisations. UNSW offers a range of domestic and international internship placements in Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
