The course offers six specialist streams: Education; Environment and Livelihoods; Health and Social Policy; Indigenous Contexts; Public Management and Governance; and Secure and Safe Communities. Students can select elective units from one stream or spread across multiple streams to tailor their studies to their context and career interests.
Yes, the Master of Public Policy can be studied 100% online or on-campus at the Danala - Education and Community Precinct. Both domestic and international students can access online study, and intakes are available in Semester 1, Semester 2, and Summer Semester.
The course requires a total of 160 credit points, comprising: 4 core units (40 cp), 2 compulsory research project units totalling 40 credit points (MPP610 and MPP611, taken after completing a minimum of 80 credit points), a minimum of 20 credit points from Research Methodologies units, and the remainder as specialist electives from available streams. Up to 40 credit points may also be selected from other postgraduate units offered by the University.
Graduating with a Master of Public Policy may lead to career opportunities in government and private companies as a policy researcher, advisor, analyst or writer.
The annual tuition fee for full-time international students in 2026 is AUD $37,672.00, which equates to $4,709.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL). These fees are subject to annual increases effective at the start of each calendar year. CDU also offers a number of scholarships to international students to assist with the cost of study.
