Master of Research (Agriculture)

Applicants must have qualified for a Bachelor Honours degree (first or second class) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary educational institution. Applicants who have qualified with a Bachelor Honours (first or second class) will be eligible to enter the Master of Research degree; on entry they do not take out their Honours qualification but elect to continue into the Master degree. Honours remains an exit award for the Master degree.

Curtin requires all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English. For this course, the IELTS Academic requirement is an overall band score of 6.5, with minimum scores of 6 in Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening.

Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), covering up to two years of full-time equivalent study for Master of Philosophy programs.

Students will demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and reflect critically on that knowledge and its application; investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories; generate and evaluate complex ideas and concepts at an abstract level; design, use and evaluate research and research methods; communicate and present a coherent and sustained argument; and design, evaluate, implement, analyse, theorise and disseminate research that makes an original contribution to knowledge.

The course is offered at Curtin Perth on campus. For 2026, intake is available in Research Term 1 and Research Term 2, both delivered on campus.
