Master of Research (Bioinformatics)

The Master of Research takes 1.5 years of full-time study, with the ability to complete in just 1 year with prior credit. It can also be studied part-time.

Domestic students pay no tuition fees for this program. All domestic students accepted into the Master of Research program at Adelaide University will receive a tuition-free place for up to 1.5 years (or part-time equivalent). Eligible students may also be able to receive an assistance scholarship from Adelaide University, of similar value to Commonwealth government income support for full-time students.

For admission you need to have completed either a 3-year Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) with a WAM of ≥ 65 or a seven-point GPA of 5.0 or higher; a 4-year Bachelor (Honours) degree (AQF level 8) with a WAM of ≥65 or a seven-point GPA of 5.0 or higher; or a Graduate Certificate (AQF level 8) in research training with an overall WAM of ≥ 65 or a seven-point GPA of 5.0 or higher. An equivalent combination of qualifications and experience is also considered.

Yes. The Master of Research equips students with rich research skills, providing a direct pathway to Adelaide University's Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) qualification. Graduates will have the knowledge, skills and experience required to enter a PhD program.

The degree combines coursework with a research project. The first part of your studies is designed to help you develop a broad base of research skills, exploring key methodologies and approaches to research, including topics such as methods, communication and engagement. In the remainder of your studies, under the guidance of an experienced and supportive research supervisor, you'll plan, design and complete your own independent research project on a topic of interest and relevance to your field.
