Master of Research (Economics and Finance)

You will learn to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and reflect critically on that knowledge and its application, investigate and analyse complex information and theories, generate and evaluate complex ideas at an abstract level, design and evaluate research methods, communicate and present coherent arguments to peers and the broader research community, and design and disseminate research that makes an original contribution to knowledge.

The course takes one to two years of full-time or equivalent part-time study, with the standard full-time duration being 2 years.

Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens who are successful applicants of a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) program are eligible for a tuition fee exemption under the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), up to two years for Master of Philosophy programs. International students should see the information provided specifically for international students.

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. The IELTS Academic requirement is an overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the Writing, Speaking, Reading and Listening components. English proficiency may also be demonstrated using other accepted tests and qualifications.

The course is delivered at Curtin Perth, with study available both on campus and online for both Research Term 1 and Research Term 2 in 2026.
