About This Course

The Master of Science (Leadership in Gerontology and Rehabilitation) gives you a competitive advantage. The degree provides leadership and research skills for career progression into senior clinical, management, teaching, and research roles, including clinical nurse consultants, medical practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, registered nurses, social workers, family carers, and various roles in aged care and dementia care. Learn to critically review the health and wellbeing of older people, review social policy in aged care, and develop advocacy skills. The program is unique as it includes a rehabilitation approach to developing services for older people. Many students maintain full-time or part-time careers in health care while undertaking these courses. Fee subsidised places available

General Requirements

Domestic Students

Applicants should meet one of the following criteria:
A recognised bachelors degree in a health discipline, or a qualification to practise as a Registered Nurse or equivalent.
Completion of the UOW Graduate Certificate in Gerontology and Rehabilitation Studies, or equivalent.

Work and life experience:

Admission to UOW is primarily based on your academic qualifications, with work or life experience generally not considered. If you do not meet the academic requirements for this course, we recommend exploring recognized pathway programs, such as those offered by UOW College or the TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC).

Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications:

UOW recognises a range of overseas higher education qualifications. Your qualifications will be assessed for equivalence to Australian qualifications and the admission requirements for this course. Documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation.

English language proficiency:

All UOW courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University’s English Language Requirements, which differ by course.
