Common Questions
RMIT offers two main intakes for direct applications each year: Semester 1 (commencing approximately February) and Semester 2 (midyear, commencing approximately July). Applications for Semester 2, 2026 open 10 March 2026. Applications are assessed on a rolling basis and remain open until all places are filled, so applying early is strongly recommended. A Semester 3 intake is also available for a select number of courses for international students.
RMIT provides extensive hands-on learning facilities for biomedical science students, including the Anatomage Table (a 3D anatomy visualisation and virtual dissection tool), high-fidelity simulation manikins (ALS SimMan), and specialised medical radiation laboratories with VR simulation technology. Industry-connected placements with partners such as Northern Health and VetCheck Technologies are also available, giving students real-world experience in professional environments.
International students can apply directly through RMIT's Application Portal or, if you have studied an Australian Year 12 (in Australia or overseas) or an International Baccalaureate (in Australia or New Zealand), through VTAC. You will need to submit academic transcripts and graduation certificates, evidence of English language proficiency, and any additional course-specific documents. It is recommended to apply and accept your offer at least 4–8 weeks before your course start date to allow for application assessment, visa processing, and arrival in Australia.
RMIT offers both Packaged Pathways (formerly Guaranteed Pathways) and Standard Pathways for eligible students. Packaged Pathways connect TAFE courses and degrees in a single application. Standard Pathways offer flexibility to choose your next steps as you go. Credit or recognition of prior learning from previous study may also be available, potentially reducing the duration of the program. International students have separate pathway packages available via the international pathways page.
RMIT awards more than 2,000 scholarships worth millions of dollars every year. Scholarships are available to both domestic and international students and are based on criteria including personal circumstances, financial need, study area, level of study, research, travel, and academic achievement. Eligible students can explore scholarship options on the RMIT Scholarships page.
Tuition fees for the Master of Science (Biomedical Science) are listed on the RMIT program page and in the Tuition fees database. Domestic students may be eligible for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) where available, as well as FEE-HELP and SA-HELP loans. International student tuition fees are quoted in Australian dollars and may be adjusted by up to 7.5% at the beginning of each calendar year. In addition to tuition fees, students are charged a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) and may incur material, administrative, and other course-related expenses.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
