Common Questions
RMIT offers multiple intakes throughout the year. Semester 1 begins in late February or early March, Semester 2 (midyear intake) begins in mid-July, and a Semester 3 intake for international students starts in September, October, or November depending on the course. Not all intakes may be available for every course, so it is recommended to check the specific course page for confirmed intake dates.
International students can apply via RMIT's Application Portal or through VTAC if they have studied an Australian Year 12 (in Australia or overseas) or an International Baccalaureate in Australia or New Zealand. You will need to submit academic transcripts and graduation certificates, evidence of English language proficiency, and any additional course-specific documents. It is recommended to apply and accept your offer at least 4–8 weeks before your course start date to allow for assessment and visa processing.
RMIT requires applicants to meet minimum English language proficiency standards. Accepted options include an accepted English language proficiency test (such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or PTE Academic), studies from an accepted English language provider, or holding a recognised qualification. Specific score thresholds for this course should be confirmed on the individual course page on the RMIT website.
Yes, RMIT recognises prior learning and previous study. Once enrolled, you can apply for credit and recognition of prior learning (RPL), which may reduce the duration of your qualification. Credit may be granted for prior study at certificate IV level or higher that is recognised by RMIT as equivalent.
RMIT offers scholarships for both local and international students to help with study costs including textbooks, fees, accommodation, and living expenses. Scholarship options are available for students wishing to study overseas, undertake international industry placements, or commence research careers. Details of available scholarships can be found on the RMIT scholarships page.
RMIT provides a comprehensive range of student support services including free study support, Career Connect for job-finding and career guidance, career mentoring through one of Australia's largest 1-to-1 mentoring programs, Equitable Learning Services for students with disabilities or health conditions, health and wellbeing services, financial and legal support, and accommodation assistance. International students also have access to dedicated support services to help them settle into life in Australia.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
