About This Course

This course will equip you with the understanding, knowledge and skills needed to work as a project manager in a variety of industries. You'll learn the advanced project management techniques to facilitate project success. Project management is a distinct professional discipline with its own body of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques. It involves managing a project from inception to completion and the attainment of the project's objectives. If you have recently graduated or not yet gained experience in the field, the two-year Master of Project Management course will introduce you to the foundations of the discipline and allow you to develop your skills in complementary areas outside of project management. Students who complete a master degree to a high standard can apply for doctoral-level studies.

General Requirements

Applicants for a Master Degree (Coursework) are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards.
Subject to the duration of the course applicants usually require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent (and may require relevant work experience), Bachelor Honours Degree, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.
Applicants require a bachelor degree; or a Graduate Certificate in Project Management or a Graduate Diploma in Project Management.
Students entering with a Graduate Diploma in Project Management must have completed PRJM6006 Project Management Research 1 in Semester 2 in order to be eligible for the Research Stream.
Students entering with the Graduate Diploma in Project Management who have completed PRJM6008 Project Quality Management are eligible for the Professional Stream.
English language requirement (IELTS Academic): Overall band score 6.5, with Writing 6, Speaking 6, Reading 6, Listening 6.

Can I exit the degree early with a lower-level qualification?

Yes, the master degree is divided into a professional stream and a research stream and comprises three levels of study, with completion of one level providing credit towards the next. You can choose to exit the degree at the graduate certificate or graduate diploma level.

What are the domestic fees for this course?

The 2026 domestic indicative first-year fee is $30,968. This is based on a first-year full-time study load and does not include other fees like administrative and incidental fees or the cost of textbooks. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

What will I learn in the Master of Science (Project Management)?

In this course, you will learn the processes and techniques associated with project management, including cost, time, quality, risk, communication, human resources and procurement management. You'll explore the application of quality management to projects including planning, assurance, certification, audits, control, training, benchmarking and best practice. You'll also be trained in leadership, team management and motivation.
