Common Questions
No, the Master of Social Impact is no longer taking applications from 2024. Swinburne recommends considering the Master of Business Administration, in which you can specialise in Social Impact, as an alternative — applications for that course are now open.
To qualify for the award of Master of Social Impact, students must complete 150 credit points comprising 8 core units (100 credit points) and 4 elective units (50 credit points). Completing 4 core units entitles students to a Graduate Certificate, and completing an additional 2 core units and 2 elective or specialisation units entitles students to a Graduate Diploma.
Yes, a fast-track option is available for those with relevant business or industry experience. Students with proven relevant working experience and cognate learning may complete the course in 1 year, while those with proven relevant cognate learning (without the work experience component) can complete it in 1.5 years. Fast-tracked study involves workshops with assessments based on the workplace.
The indicative 2026 yearly fee for international students is AUD $38,880, with a total course fee of AUD $58,320. These fees are estimates only and are subject to change. A Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of $365 (2025 capped amount) is included within the annual tuition fee.
The course is taught through the Centre for Social Impact Swinburne, giving students access to world-class researchers and academics through interactive learning. The postgraduate program also connects students to organisations where they can undertake industry placements to gain practical, hands-on experience through Work Integrated Learning.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
