Common Questions
Yes. EQUALS' Master of Social Work (Qualifying) course has been provisionally accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Provisional accreditation is typically granted to new programs that have not yet produced their first graduates. This status does not affect the eligibility or standing of graduates. Graduates of provisionally accredited programs are recognised in the same way as those from fully accredited programs.
A total of 1000 Field Placement hours must be completed in order to meet AASW membership requirements. The course includes two field placements: WIL100 (First Work Integrated Learning Placement) in Trimester 3 and WIL200 (Second Work Integrated Learning Placement) in Trimester 6. Each placement is equivalent to a full time unit of study of 20 credit points across 14 weeks. Two placements must be in different fields of practice and in different organisations, and each must involve face-to-face, direct service delivery. Students are also required or assisted to accept one placement with an international context.
For domestic students, the tuition fee is $51,360, with an additional Work Integrated Learning Fee of $4,800 and an Amenities Fee of $370. For international students, the tuition fee is $68,944, with the same Work Integrated Learning Fee of $4,800 and Amenities Fee of $370.
EQUALS requires social work students to undergo a screening check for five types of screening prior to commencement of placement. These types of screening are: child related employment, disability services employment, aged care sector employment, vulnerable person employment, and general employment probity. Students are required to have a current Screening Check clearance letter prior to the commencement of field placement, and it is the student's responsibility to ensure that the clearance letter remains current for the duration of the placement.
International applicants must have completed a relevant Bachelor (AQF Level 7) degree with at least one year (8 Units) of full-time studies in the social and behavioural sciences. Overseas qualifications must be deemed by EQUALS as equivalent to Australian qualifications. The English language requirement for international students is an Academic IELTS overall band of 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each band (or equivalent). Additionally, all applicants must submit a Personal Statement of up to 350 words and participate in an admissions interview in person or via a web-based video meeting.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
