About This Course

Enhance your skills in special and inclusive education. This program builds upon your existing education or heath qualifications. The program blends theory, research, practice, reflection and innovation with an emphasis on applying best-practice evidence-based approaches to support the learning and development of people with disability and/or additional need.

Take control of your professional future by choosing one of four specialisations: A Graduate Certificate in Special and Inclusive Support, Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Disability Support, Graduate Certificate in Emotional and Behavioural Support in Education and a Graduate Certificate in High Potential and Gifted Education are also available to study and can be used as a pathway into the masters program. The Master of Special and Inclusive Education covers a range of general and specialised courses driven around your passion for supporting the learning outcome of students with a diverse range of ability and disability. This program will have immeasurable value for those in the teaching and learning sector. Scholarship recipients from the Department of Education and Training Victoria, and accredited teachers requiring an in-school placement must complete one of the following courses: Meet Kat and hear how the Master of Special and Inclusive Education enabled her to provide better support to all students who come into her classroom.

General Requirements

The Master of Special and Inclusive Education is an 80-unit postgraduate qualification, with admission available for applicants who have one of the following qualifications or equivalent in a relevant field:
Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma; or
Bachelor Honours Degree; or
Bachelor Degree plus two years demonstrable relevant work experience; or
Diploma or Advanced Diploma plus five years demonstrable relevant work experience. Relevant fields and applicable work experience includes education/teaching, psychology, disability studies, allied health or a related discipline.
Work experience can be demonstrated through: certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.

English language proficiency (IELTS Academic or approved equivalent): overall minimum 6.5; no sub-test below 6.
