About This Course

The Master of Speech Language Pathology is a postgraduate coursework degree that will prepare you for professional practice as a speech pathologist, developing the skills to assess and treat people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures, and change lives by making it easier for people to communicate with others or swallow safely. Graduates from this program are qualified for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia which allows them to work as speech pathologists in Australia. You will complete core units in speech pathology theory and practice according to a prescribed course of study, including a minimum of 744 hours of professional placements.

Requirements

An accepted degree must be either: a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD degree accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework from an Australian university or self-accrediting higher education institution; or a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD degree from an overseas university listed in the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition Guide, provided that the degree is equivalent to an Australian bachelor's, master's degree or PhD degree under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Completed an accepted degree: All pages of official final academic transcript and degree testamur.
Completing an accepted degree: provide all pages of your penultimate official academic transcript, with no more than 1 semester (0.5 FTE/24 credit points USYD equivalent) pending results.
Proof of identity: a valid passport (biodata page). Alternatively, an Australian birth certificate or Australian or New Zealand citizenship certificate for domestic students.
Evidence of English Language Proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL results) where required.
For courses with mandatory prerequisites, official detailed unit outlines for all prerequisite units in your studies which you believe will meet the prerequisite requirements.
If documents are not in English, they need to be officially translated into English by your institution and include the institution's official stamp on each page. Alternatively, documents can be translated and certified by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).
International applicants: Explanation of Grading System required.
Evidence of name change (marriage certificate etc.), if applicable.
No deferrals are permitted for the Graduate Entry Master programs.

When do applications open and close for domestic students?

For domestic students, applications open on 1 July of the preceding year and close on 31 October of the preceding year. A small number of early offers are released to applicants with high academic merit, with main offers released between December and January.

When do applications open and close for international students?

For international students, applications open on 15 April of the preceding year and close on 31 July of the preceding year. Offers are made throughout the year based on academic merit and subject to availability in the program.

Are Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) available for this program?

The majority of the Graduate Entry Master offers are full fee-paying places. There may be a small number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) available and these are allocated on the basis of academic merit.
