The prize is awarded each year by the ANU College of Business and Economics to the Master of Statistics student who achieved the best result, as shown by the highest aggregate mark for the Master of Statistics Program in the academic year of offer. The value of the prize is $500.
The award is available each year to an ANU student who is a domestic or international student, enrolled in a graduate Master of Statistics in the ANU College of Business and Economics, and completing the courses required for the Master of Statistics in the academic year of offer.
Selection is made on the basis of the highest aggregate mark for the Master of Statistics program. The winning student is nominated by the course convener, supported by the Director of the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Statistics, and endorsed by the Associate Dean (Education). The ANU College of Business and Economics reserves the right to make no award if it considers there is no applicant of sufficient merit.
If the prize is accepted, the recipient agrees to the publication of their name. In some instances the recipient may also be asked to write a letter of thanks to the donor, participate in marketing activities, and/or provide a reflective statement. A prize may be declined in writing to scholarships.cbe@anu.edu.au no later than 30 days from notification.
The prize will be on offer from 2023 to 2025, and will be reviewed at the conclusion of that period, if any eligibility requirements are to be amended, or after 3 years, whichever is earliest.
