The Professional Experience Program (PEP) consists of 85 days of supervised practicum undertaken in a range of schools. Placements are available in the Christian, state and Independent schooling sectors in both urban and regional settings.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor degree (other than Education) with a GPA of at least 4.0 and at least one year (full-time equivalent) of studies relevant to one or more areas of the primary school curriculum to be eligible for admission.
The minimum requirements are an IELTS (Academic) score of 7.5 overall (with at least 8.0 for Listening and Speaking, and at least 7.0 for Reading and Writing), or an ISLPR score of 4 in each of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing (administered by ISLPR Language Services, Mt Gravatt, Queensland). English test results must be no more than two years old at the commencement of study.
Yes. Students must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE), as administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), to progress to the second year of the course (full-time equivalent).
As part of the Non-Academic Requirements for Teacher Entry (NARTE), applicants must submit a personal teaching statement addressing suitability criteria including non-academic capabilities. Additionally, students are required to hold a valid Blue Card in order to engage in the Professional Experience Program (PEP).
