Common Questions
You can complete the Bachelor of Primary Education and Master of Secondary Teaching in as little as 4.5 years full-time (or 4 years, depending on the subjects you choose), which is almost the same time it takes to complete a single undergraduate teaching degree. Part-time study is also available and takes up to 9 years.
You will complete a minimum of 80 days placement across all the stages of schooling. During the course, you will apply your learning with professional experience in classrooms close to home or in unique placements in remote locations across the Northern Territory. You must provide proof that you have met all university and State/Territory pre-placement requirements before commencing professional placements.
This course has been accredited through the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (TRB NT) and is consistent with the standards established by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) for the accreditation of Initial Teacher Education Programs (ITE) in Australia. Upon graduating, you will be eligible to register as a teacher across all Australian State and Territory jurisdictions, subject to meeting other eligibility criteria such as the National Literacy and Numeracy test for Initial Teacher Education, English proficiency and suitability to teach.
Within the specialist electives, students select a teaching area from Science, English, Humanities, or Mathematics. You will study your chosen specialist elective units across both the Bachelor of Primary Education and the Master of Secondary Teaching, allowing you to develop deep subject expertise alongside your primary and secondary teaching qualifications.
The annual tuition fee for full-time study in 2026 is AUD $31,432.00, which equates to $3,929.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL). These fees are subject to increases annually, effective at the start of each calendar year. CDU also offers a number of scholarships to international students to assist with the cost of study.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
