About This Course

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) (MC-TEACHSA) prepares students for a career teaching 12-18-year-olds. Students learn from world-leading experts, all with experience teaching in schools, and develop practical classroom skills through the most comprehensive teaching placement program in Victoria, becoming an active member of a placement school community from semester one with support from a school-based Mentor Teacher and a university-based Clinical Specialist. Graduates are qualified to teach two learning areas and introduced to a third to expand their knowledge and employability, choosing from a wide range of subjects from Accounting to Arts and Legal Studies to Languages. An Accelerated Mode option allows students to graduate in 1.5 years.

General Requirements

An undergraduate degree including appropriate discipline study that satisfies the requirements for two learning areas, OR one double learning area; must include at least a major study in one learning area, preferably with a second learning area comprising at least a minor study
Completion of the Initial Teacher Education Assessment (iTEA)
Guaranteed Entry pathway available for University of Melbourne bachelor graduates, including early admission and a Commonwealth Supported Place (domestic students only)
Graduate Degree Package pathway available for Year 12 students
English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 with speaking and listening 7.5 and no other band less than 7.0, or equivalent approved test score
Graduate Access Melbourne (GAM) entry scheme available
