Common Questions
The Master of Teaching (Secondary) STEM is a professional teaching qualification for students possessing an appropriate degree program. It is designed for those who want to teach secondary school students in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, preparing graduates to meet the demands of the 21st century.
The course is delivered at the Penrith campus. As one of only three providers of STEM education in Australia, Western offers learning both in class on campus and online, plus hands-on experience in schools.
Upon graduating, you will be eligible to register with the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) and will meet the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers.
The course has three upcoming intake dates: 20 July 2026 (Spring 2026), 01 March 2027 (Autumn 2027), and 19 July 2027 (Spring 2027).
Students choosing to study this accredited course may be eligible to apply for a Commonwealth Teaching Scholarship of up to $20,000 for new full-time postgraduate teaching students (up to $10,000 per year for a two-year qualification). Domestic students may also be eligible for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP), with an indicative annual fee from $11,885.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
